For some time now, we’ve been kept on our toes by the changing eBook marketplace and 2018 shows no sign of being an exception!
- At the end of last year, we made the decision to purchase another evidence-based eBook package of Taylor and Francis eBooks. The rationale for this decision was to move what eBooks we could that were accessible under ProQuest’s Access to Own and short term loan eBook models to reduce uncontrolled expenditure associated with ATO and STL transactions in 2018. The idea being that this in turn would help save money in our 2018 Information Resources budget
- With this change we will significantly scale down our pool of STL eBooks and turn off Access to Own content
- We have also purchased outright some high use eBook titles that ProQuest Academic Complete no longer has rights to
- We will do some checks to see if any of the content no longer available is being referenced in courses, and outright purchase those where available
- There is a range of choices and options for making available needed content in 2018. Please contact acquisitions@libr.canterbury.ac.nz if you become aware of any gaps or new needs
