Many thanks to Nick for having the perseverance to solve a tricky MAC EndNote problem – the person could not open EndNote as it told him someone else was using his EndNote login….
The real problem was that his library was corrupted but it took a lot of trial and error to fix the problem. Nick rebuilt the library for him. Now the student can submit his thesis
Thanks to Romy too for suggesting various steps and no thanks to EndNote for their enigmatic error messages !
Thanks Alison 🙂
That was a weird one because in addition to what Alison noted when he tried to open EndNote it brought up the EndNote splash screen and then did nothing. The splash screen is confusing because it has a message on it about contacting an administrator for licensing info or something like that. This made me think that there was a problem with his licensing but I now realise that is the standard splash screen that everyone sees rather than an error message. On his Mac there was no message about the library being corrupted (just the in use my another user message if he opened his library file) but when we transferred it to a UC windows machine we got various error messages that showed the library was corrupted.
