Summer Salon Series

Kia ora koutou,

next week we will begin this trial series of slightly provocative conversations that are part of bringing staff (particularly academic staff) back into the Library spaces.  Co-produced by the Library and the Library Committee, these will be lunchtime gatherings where people bring their lunch and come together to talk about an idea or a topic. Running from 12.15 to 1pm, each will begin with a 5-7 minute “provocation”  and then moderated discussion will occur. Anton has agreed to be the facilitator for this first series. The Summer Series will run once a week until the start of Semester One and then the project will be reviewed to determine next steps. See K:\LIBR-Library\Projects\The Salon for more information around the project.

The series will most likely begin on Friday 19th with a provocation by Darryn Russell. Watch this space early next week for the title.

Your contribution please:

if you wish to attend the talks yourself, please bring a non-library colleague/friend and also could you

talk about these sessions as you attend meetings, staff the service points or have other conversations around the university as we want people to know that they are happening and that they will be an enjoyable way to catch up with people from all round the University .

thanks,

Lyndsay on behalf of the project team.

  1. Sounds like a really good initiative. The opportunity for the exchange of ideas and academic debate is one of the things I love about working in a university environment.
