this message is to notify the first of what will likely be a number of changes across the Library this year as we work to implement the required financial savings for the 2018 staffing budget.
As a result of two vacancies in Customer Services, (Aaron’s and Jean’s) we have taken the opportunity to look at staffing there.
Reluctantly we have agreed to remove the Team Leader, Environment Band 5 position and replace it with a Band 2 position, which is to be split into a 0.8 position ( being advertised) and 0.2 offered to someone in an existing part-time position. This is required to have enough bodies to cover extended hours and peak times in the libraries for our existing opening hours. Jean’s position will not be replaced. The reporting lines in Customer Services will change as a result of this change to the Pou.
Library managers would like to acknowledge the impact of these changes on Te Paea, Jenny, Rā and the Customer Services Team. It is not easy to be suddenly confronted with these changes when your vision for the team was just about to come to fruition, you have just merged two libraries, and other unexpected issues are impacting on the team all at the same time.
As we all work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for Library staff and for our user groups, lets all keep communicating and giving each other the information that’s needed to make good decisions.
