Update re First 6 Weeks Objective

Kia ora koutou,

you may have been wondering how the recommendations for supporting new student success in the first 6 weeks at UC are going.

We definitely have progress – particularly in terms of the recommendations around partnerships with other areas. Being able to build on previous relationships is really helping and we are seeing delight from our colleagues at the chances to work more closely together with the Library. This is aiding  teams working on the 2018 Objectives e.g. Induction Project, Week of the Geek etc. in meeting their outcomes too.

  • We have a link to Learn in the email sent to students on completion of enrollment, and some pre-arrival active skills content is underway.
  • The Salon conversation series for academic staff (and the rest of us) will begin on Wednesday 14 February. This is part of students seeing that the libraries are a place for everyone, and for academic staff to see students using Library face to face services.
  • LEARN and the Library website and its links are looking good.
  • We are in the process of discussing MFD prompt provisioning.
  • Furnishings have been updated in both MB and Central libraries.
Central Library Level 2

Still working to get more movement in the other suggested areas, but its a really good start and thanks very much to all of you who are working hard to keep up our 2018 active support for students in that really crucial time from start of lectures through to Easter break. The work we are doing now to prepare, and what we will be busy with soon are such clear examples of our Library values at work.
