Student Orientation Boarding Pass

Liz Keneti and the Student Services team would like to draw our attention to the competition that will be running from 16 – 23 February helping students understand the Code of Conduct and related behaviours.

“Kia ora koutou,

Tied in with the campus tours on orientation day this year will be a competition aiming to promote 5 key messages we would like to reinforce to students. There will be campus activation points on the tour and groups will be required to do an activation game at each stop to help them complete their boarding pass requirements. The tours will be led by our student leaders and assisted by staff at each activation point.

To help incentivise their engagement with the answers, the UCSA is kindly putting forward some prizes that students who enter the correct answers go into the draw to win (at this stage, events and food and beverage vouchers). The entry forms will be available on the campus tours themselves and at pick up points elsewhere, and will be dropped off in a visible drop box in Puaka-James Hight. The competition itself will run Feb 16 –23, and has been themed to align with events being run by the UCSA at the same time. Extending the time of the competition will allow us to promote these key messages to students we didn’t capture at O-Day and our returning students.

Students are encouraged to keep an eye out for clues around campus (e.g. Insider’s guide, learn, around the physical spaces) and to ask staff. The correct answers to the questions so that you can help point students towards clues for the answers (should any come to asking about it) are as follows:

  • Take care of your mates
  • Consent is as simple as a cup of tea  (refers to this, if you haven’t seen the Cup of Tea video)
  • Understand your Student Code of Conduct
  • Make sure to check your emails
  • Remember that you can ask [Student Care, Security, MDT, PDT, UCSA Advocacy and Welfare, etc] for help. “

The Library’s involvement is in two areas – A drop box for students to return their competition form will be located on level 2 of Central Library, and LEARN will be one of the places where the clues/answers can be found. Of course we can also encourage our students to answer Library as one of the places they can ask for help!
