EbookCentral (academic complete ANZ collection) links not working

***UPDATE 18/4 – catalogue record links should be ok now. Multisearch hasn’t caught up yet – the first full text link will not work but there should be a second one that will.***

On Friday 13th we updated our catalogue records for 111, 000 odd ebook titles in the Ebook Central – Academic Complete ANZ Edition database. Unfortunately the book URLs have come through missing our site details so clicking on them will result in a “Sorry, we’re not able to identify your institution. Please double-check your URL.” error message.  We are in the process of updating all the links in Horizon/Library Catalogue (should be done in an hour or two) and this should result in updates to Multisearch (might take a day or so for change to apply).

In the meantime, if you come across people having trouble accessing the books there are 2 ways around this:

  1. Use the EbookCentral database link – https://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/canterbury/home.action – then search for the book in there.
  2. Edit the catalogue URL – replace the  exlsite part of the URL with canterbury. e.g. http://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/exlsite/detail.action?docID=1531174
    becomes:
    http://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/canterbury/detail.action?docID=1531174
