Interloan system – update on migration from VDX to WorldShare ILL via Tipasa

Progress since last update 16 October

  • Interloans, eServices, Customer Services, ITS and Records Management staff have been involved in a number of configuration and training sessions
  • Work with ITS continues regarding authentication
  • We are now testing the link with Summon
  • As part of the document delivery training session we had a discussion about the merits of Tipasa for distance services and will be seeking further clarification around the options
  • We are considering collecting department information as part of the requesting process
  • The new system will automate some interloans requests via a Direct Request Profile, meaning some requests will be supplied to us from libraries around NZ without the interloans team having to mediate – however more testing of this feature is needed
  • We are discussing a range of workflow ideas in the team and with other Tipasa participating libraries (Waikato and Otago)

Why are we migrating?

What you need to know

  • Library News item
  • All current users of VDX (current Interloans system) have been notified of our plans to move to Tipasa in December
  • We will run a preview session for Library staff on 29 November – details to come.  We will provide an alternative preview option if you would like to attend but can’t
  • Go live remains on track for 4 December
  • There will be no migration of request data – current NZ requests will be aged/completed in VDX
  • As mentioned above there is the opportunity to look at our workflows as part of this migration project including Interloans and Distance services

What you need to do

  • Stay tuned for updates
  • Participate in any conversations about workflows and any opportunities we consider to improve processes, etc
  • Stay tuned for preview of Tipasa – November 29.  Come if you are interested and can – alternative preview option to be provided if you can’t make it
  • Comments, questions and feedback is most welcome: interloans@libr.canterbury.ac.nz
