Interloan system – update on migration from VDX to WorldShare ILL via Tipasa

Progress update since 9 November

  • Work continues by Interloans and eServices staff, ITS staff and OCLC staff testing, configuring and training in Tipasa.  Conversations are also happening with AUT, Waikato and Otago to swap notes and to share ideas about how we configure Tipasa.  We are also having conversations with OCLC to feedback on things we would like to see changed, some of which will go into a development queue and some of which should be changed by 4 December
  • There will be a clearer request form and a larger “Create request” button.  It should be easier for users to reply to email notifications sent from Tipasa (confusing in VDX)
  • Multisearch citation data will be populated in the request form
  • The username login format for Tipasa will be abc12@canterbury.ac.nz at least for the foreseeable future.  We realize expecting users to add the “@canterbury.ac.nz” string to their usercode isn’t ideal and won’t be intuitive.  There are two solutions, both of which require development work either by ITS or OCLC to address.  We have a couple of options we are exploring: a) asking ITS if this can be raised up their priority queue and b) approaching OCLC as a group (with other NZ libraries) asking if they can join Tuakiri for Tipasa
  • We are now looking at the workflow for Renewals and seeing what the most user-friendly options are
