Progress update since 14th November
Library staff preview of Tipasa – Thursday 29th November 1-1:30pm in The Den, Puaka-James Hight. All welcome. We will provide an alternative option if you would like to come but can’t make it – TBA.
Today we are emailing all users of VDX the following information as well as arranging for Library News and Intercom news items:
The UC Library is upgrading to a new Interloan system on 4th December. Interloan requesting will be unavailable from 5pm Friday November 30th until Tuesday 4th December to allow us to make the switch.
After 5pm Friday 30th November zPortal will only show your interloan request history – new requests will be placed from our new system, Tipasa. If you are using the Saved List feature in zPortal this will be lost after 30th November – we recommend exporting or emailing items before then.
What will change?
The account you use to request and manage your Interloans will be different. It will be more user-friendly, while still enabling you to do the things you do now, such as downloading interloaned PDFs, requesting renewals and monitoring the progress of your requests. We aim for this transition to be as smooth as possible, and the services we provide will remain the same. Any outstanding requests you have during the transition period will be actioned in the old system, alongside any new requests you make in Tipasa.
Why is the Library upgrading its Interloan system?
The current system, VDX zPortal, has reached its end of life, and is no longer supported by its provider. All New Zealand libraries are also moving to WorldShare ILL to share interloans.
How will I access the Interloans service from 4th December?
You will be automatically redirected to the new request form. You will continue to be able to access your previous Interloans requests in the current system, VDX zPortal, for at least 2019. See https://www.canterbury.ac.nz/library/services-and-facilities/interloans/ for more information, or contact us at interloans@libr.canterbury.ac.nz, or DDI 33693399 (or extn 93399).
