Kia ora koutou
While the transfer function is a quick and easy way to refer a chat on to AskUC, the original queue that picks up the chat (i.e. AskLIVE) keeps the transcript of the entire chat. That means we see all the messages back and forth between AskUC and the guest after we’ve transferred the chat. They in turn don’t see the chat in their transcript history. There’s no way to alter this behaviour, however LibraryH3lp (our AskLIVE vendors) suggested an alternative.
We’ve now set up a canned message that should be visible to everyone on AskLIVE (you’ll probably need to log off and on again if you were logged on before 9:45am).
The message is:
AskUC chat would be best to help you with your query. See https://libraryh3lp.com/chat/uc-enrol@chat.libraryh3lp.com?skin=28998 to chat
The link will take them directly to the AskUC chat window and they’ll start a new chat. Happy to change the wording if anyone has any suggestions.
AskUC is in trial phase at the moment (see https://blogs.canterbury.ac.nz/insiders/2018/10/26/not-sure-askuc/) and they are using our subscription. We believe they are going to purchase their own site if the trial is successful and then we shouldn’t have the mixed chat transcript issue (transfers should also still be possibly)
