Kia ora koutou,
As we have set our plans in motion for the cancellation of Web of Science at the end of this year, we have now set up an intermediary webpage to advise our users of the forthcoming cancellation and of the alternative services available to them. Access will now be directed through this page from the catalogue and from the database pages. The links to WOS in the libguides have also been re-directed, however please let eServices know if there are any we have missed.
Ngā mihi,
Bronwyn
(On behalf of eServices)
Further to this post, we were working from the link in our database pages and we’ve since found other variations in libguides. It will take us a bit longer to find and update the rest. Thanks for your patience. Bronwyn
Recommending Elements and SCImago might be quite confusing, despite the brackets description, for students who may think they are alternatives to find articles. Most people accessing WOS will be after articles rather than metrics won’t they? Maybe Elements and SCImago should be promoted elsewhere just to academics?
Good point, Nick, particularly as Scopus is more than just a source of an H-index.
Perhaps something along the lines of: alternative databases are listed on subjects guides, talk to your subject librarian, etc.,* and just have the link to metrics?
* Scopus isn’t the best alternative to WoS for all subject areas; in Chemistry, SciFinder beats Scopus hands down, for example!
