It’s ENGR101 time again! The (1000+) Engineering 101 students are receiving their assignments today and Dave and Kiera will be going to their lectures tomorrow to let them know what the library can do for them. The assignment is due Monday 18 March, so there isn’t a big turnaround time and we expect questions to start coming in relatively quickly. We have created a subject guide to assist students.
Their task is:
“You are to write a technical style engineering report. The aim of the report is to summarise some aspects of the engineering process that lead to a solution to stop humans from ingesting plastics through seafood consumption.”
Students will be required to do APA referencing.
We’ll be offering Adobe Connect sessions at 12:15 every day next week, reiterating what sort of materials they should use and how to find them, and Dave, Nick and Damian will be around for appointments to support students. Additionally, Brian will be at EPS Thursday and Friday for appointments as those are Dave’s short days, and Kiera and Alison will be on leave.
However, there will probably be a higher volume of AskLIVE queries than normal, and likely several front desk inquiries as well. Please feel free to direct students to the subject guide or to one of the Subject Librarians.
Thanks!
They often don’t quite know what they are actually supposed to *do*. The stock answer is, “Apply steps 2-4 of the ‘engineering process’ from your lecture notes to this problem. Show how you’ve gone through the steps.” which covers a multitude of sins.
