FYI for those sending emails to external email addresses e.g. vendors and notices to borrowers with non-uc email addresses.
IT have posted the following message on the
Assyst portal
ITS are currently investigating reports of some emails sent from @canterbury.ac.nz to external email addresses being bounced.
At present we are expecting the current issue to last at least 72 hours, please attempt to resend bounced emails after 24 hours.
If you are currently experiencing this issue can you please log a request with the IT Service Desk and attach the bounced email to the request.
We apologise for any inconvenience this is causing.
We’ve also had reports of the emails looking scrambled when received by the external recipient. Reporting problems to ITS may help them get to the route of the problem.

IT have now confirmed in an all-staff email that the issues are due to our mail server being blacklisted due to a few compromised accounts that’ve been used to send out spam.
