Pigeons and cleaning

Today there has been cleaning going on in the enclosed exterior area of level 4 and the balcony outside the long corridor on level 5.

The rest of the PJH building exterior is scheduled to have a full clean every 12 months and this includes balconies and windows. The next full clean is early next year.

The balconies on levels 5, 4 and 3 are also quite dirty so after consultation with Paul Cooper I have put BIEMS requests in to have those areas cleaned. Cleaning Services will be able to do those balconies as there is no working at height involved. They will, however,  have to prioritise this work with other demands on their time and resources.

This will not get rid of the pigeon problem but will hopefully ameliorate in the short term some of the mess and smell they leave.

It is breeding season at the moment so the population of pigeons is going up.

Other birds: we sometimes have a sparrow that finds its way into the library. They generally find their way out without too much problem so they can be left to their own devices. Chasing birds around a floor is a waste of time and only panics the bird.
