Work to transform Te Rua Makerspace on PJH level 2 is expected to start soon. This transformation aims to create a larger, fit for purpose makerspace over the summer so this means some reshuffling of equipment and furniture. We will also start decanting the self-loan/high demand area.
Please be aware of these changes that are going on, and if you have bookings in the Den within the next two weeks, these may be affected.
Regular counterculture posts will be made over the summer to keep you in the loop.
Some of the things that will get underway soon include:
Te Rua Makerspace
- Clearing out the Den and surrounding area. ITS will start to move PC’s, MFD’s, and AV soon. This will prepare the room for the remodelling phase led by FM. We hope to have this completed by early December 2019.
- Removal of art works from the Den walls. In progress.
- Removal of ‘The Den’ from the library room bookings. Completed.
- Notification to Academic skills of construction and possible noise over summer. Completed.
- Notification to Space Manager and Timetabling of changes to the Den and the new Te Rua. Completed.
- Notices drafted for Library users that the area is under construction. Completed.
Furniture reshuffle
- Moving tables and chairs, and casual seating to keep a clear space for construction.
- Blue couches and chairs get a makeover. Working with Tracy Ford to get these recovered in Jan/Feb.
Decanting Self Loan/High Demand
- Beims to move Self Loan machines.
- ITS will move MFD.
- Move items on rear shelves to the front shelves.
- Dismantle rear shelves.
