Next Thursday, 5th December, the UC eftpos facilities will be upgraded. This will start at 7 am and should be finished by 9 am.
During that time there will be no online Eftpost facilities, nor will the Eftpos reload machines work. If anybody clicks on one of the online links (e.g. topup) they will see a web page explaining what is happening.
This Thursday or next Thursday 12th December?
“Next” is ambiguous with days of the week. Literally “next” means “nearest/most adjacent or proximate” (as in PK’s use with the 5th December), but Scottish usage has become widespread and consequently led to “next” often becoming ambiguous (not always ambiguous – both definitions can align depending on the timing of the statement).
See OED “next” definition 5b at https://www-oed-com.ezproxy.canterbury.ac.nz/view/Entry/126669 and the short discussion there.
ITS have reported that everything is working again:
UC Receipting, UC Checkout & UC Transcript databases upgraded successfully.
Canterbury card topup, Eftpos topup stations, UC checkout, UC receipting (security) systems are working fine now.
