W3lc0m3 to update #3. FM has the plastic sheeting up, and the old den has been removed. Construction on Te Rua Makerspace is in full swing. It is anticipated this work will continue through to February. New status updates are in bold below.
Te Rua Makerspace
1. Clearing out the Den and surrounding area. Completed
2. Removal of art works from the Den walls. Completed
3. Removal of ‘The Den’ from the library room bookings. Completed.
4. Notification to Academic skills of construction and possible noise over summer. Completed.
5. Notification to Space Manager and Timetabling of changes to the Den and the new Te Rua. Completed.
6. Notices drafted for Library users that the area is under construction. Completed.
7. Construction of Te Rua Makerspace. In progress – expected to continue through to February.
Furniture reshuffle
1. Moving tables and chairs, and casual seating to keep a clear space for construction. Completed
2. Blue couches and chairs get a makeover. Removed and being reupholstered.
3. Cleaning of tables, and walls as needed. Completed
4. The newspapers, jigsaw, chess etc have now moved to their new home on level 2. It is now in the reading space by the portrait of James Hight. Please direct people to this space so they can catch up on news or relax and read. This will also be the space where we will display any new physical materials for the library. Completed
5. Curious cabinet will move around the corner from its current location freeing up the wall for a painted interactive mural that Gavin, Rā and team are working on. In progress
6. Level 3 old brown single tables have been removed and replaced with kite tables or better tables. Light green ottomans have also been removed from level 3. Completed
7. Level 2 layout reconfigured to create a reading space, space for mobile shelving, returned today mobile shelving Completed

Decanting Self Loan/High Demand
1. Beims to move Self Loan machines. In progress
2. ITS will move MFD. In progress
3. Move items on rear shelves to the front shelves. Completed
4. Dismantle rear shelves. Completed
5. Move VHS and CD Collections. In progress
6. Mobile shelving delivery is expected in the week beginning 13 January. These will house high demand and holds and be located behind the info desk. A space has been cleared for this shelving.
7. AV and blu-ray machine location.
Rooms 214 (Temporary Makespace area)
1. 214 A-H will be 8 student bookable study rooms with an occupancy of 4 people each. These will be added to the library bookings for start of semester 1. In progress
2. 214 I & J is used for customer services store for engagement resources, signage, wellbeing resources, disaster tarp etc, PJH copy paper and toner. Completed
3. 214 K & L will be used for Ako Ātea – 2x consultation rooms for subject librarians to use. It is anticipated that Academic Skills will use one of these rooms for consultations when they resume their extended hours service that they trialled in 2018. In progress
4. The main doors to 214 will be removed to open up the space and increase visibility. Flagged for February
