LibGuides remote scripts changes

Kia ora koutou

A heads up to subject librarians using remote scripts (biblioplus lists of databases/resources).  Springshare are deprecating this content type in their latest LibGuides release (due by 21st Feb US time).  The existing scripts will still work but you will be unable to add new lists or edit the urls for existing ones once we get the update.

We will have to look at alternative options to listing resources from the catalogue (this will need to happen when we replace Horizon anyway).  LibGuides A-Z database assets and link asset lists are the only way we can build new lists in guides after the update but these are not dynamic and will need to be checked every now and then to make sure we still have the asset and the link is correct.  The other option is to just link out to a biblioplus page rather than trying to pull it into your guide.

Unfortunately the widget/iframe method we used to embed the biblioplus pages last time Springshare removed remote scripts won’t work now as the library website they are hosted on (old server) is not https and Libguides is and browsers will not show the content.

Ngā mihi,

Romy (on behalf of eServices)
