ITS are making substantial changes to the way our email works – this is part of the slow drift to Office 365.
A change next Friday, 10th July, will mean that if you use Outlook via a web client, you will see a new login screen that will look like this:
Your outlook client on your work PC won’t look any different – this just affects web access. There are some additional security settings being applied, but it is unlikely these will affect us. However, if you do have problems with Outlook via the Web after Friday, have a chat to us in eServices – we can provide a bit more information.

Hi Peter, I’ve noticed that my work Outlook account is no longer syncing to my Android calendar app, though it does to the official Outlook Android app. Do you reckon this might have caused something to break? Do you know if we are still syncing with MS Exchange ActiveSync or are we now syncing with an Office 365 process, which I’m looking forward too as I might be able to sync tasks to my phone and use other Android apps better with my work outlook.
I’m a syncing geek. Want to have all my emails, contacts, appointments synced everywhere and especially on my phone.
Hi Nick – Romy here. I also noticed this week that the sync wasn’t working. I also realised I didn’t receive any emails on my phone via gmail app since the 10 July so figured there must have been a change to the sync process used. I had to update my server settings (incoming settings) in the gmail app to get it working again – not sure how kosher it is in terms of email security but switching the security type from SSL/TLS to SSL/TLS (accept all certificates) did the job. It could no longer connect to the exchange server with the SSL/TLS setting.
Doing this got the calendar sync back again too – you can access your Exchange account settings via the Settings>Accounts menu.
We didn’t get a lot of info from IT about the details of what they did so hard to work out exactly why the sync broke.
Old news now but I just thought about this again. Thanks Romy!
Somehow I missed your reply first time round. My sync did come right after a week or two without me doing anything.
