Standards NZ ‘view pdf’ woes

Kia ora koutou

Some users have reported having problems trying to view pdfs in StandardsNZ today – when clicking on the “view pdf” links nothing happens.  Hovering over the links brings up an “account has reached maximum users” message.

It appears there is currently a concurrent user limit being applied to the standards, even though our subscription should cover unlimited access.  The Library Access and Collections team are trying to get hold of the right person at Standards NZ to get this fixed.  We strongly suspect this is another bug/issue that has arisen from the migration to their new site.

It may help users to “logout” in the MyAccount menu (top right) – then they will need to clear cookies in their browser (or switch to another browser they’ve not accessed the site with before). They should then re-access standards NZ through our database page link – http://ezproxy.canterbury.ac.nz/login?url=https://shop.standards.govt.nz/IPCheck/login.jsp.  If they do not get taken to https://www-standards-govt-nz.ezproxy.canterbury.ac.nz/my-account/managesubscriptions/onlinelibrary/view after logging in to the remote access login form, that indicates the browser still has previous session information cached and they’re likely to hit the same issue.

NB: there are a few other usability issues with the new standards NZ site that we are aware of.  Engineering subject librarians are aware of these and should be able to help users get logged in and  navigate to the right place (has to be https://www-standards-govt-nz.ezproxy.canterbury.ac.nz/my-account/managesubscriptions/onlinelibrary/view AFTER going through the database pages/catalogue link) to see “view pdf” links on.  The account maximum users issue above is a new one.

Ngā mihi,

Romy
