ProQuest Academic Complete is a huge multi-disciplinary eBook package with over 200,000 titles we have subscribed since 2016.

In mid-June, over 10,000 eBooks have been removed from Academic Complete, mainly due to content ownership changes, about 8,000 are Elsevier titles. Elsevier claimed they added these titles to the package in Dec. 2020 in error. This removal affects not only UC, but also other ANZ universities.

Here are the removal title lists — Elsevier and Other publishers.

In partnership with Serials Solutions, LAC staff are currently working on removing MARC records of these eBooks from Horizon/MultiSearch. If subject librarians and Customer Services team come across these eBooks with dead link, please send the request to acquisitions@libr.canterbury.ac.nz. We could purchase the eBook(s) asap depends on cohort or individual use.

In the meantime, about 80 withdrawn titles have been identified we would like to purchase for continued access, based on 50+ uses in the last 12 months. Most of these titles we will purchase from Elsevier or other direct publisher are DRM-free with unlimited user access.
