The library’s annual fines amnesty period ‘Can Your Fines’ has ended for 2021. A total of 117 cans were donated by UC staff and students (96 cans from PJH, 12 from EPS, and 9 from MB). Each can of food was worth $5 of fines, thus the combined value of all the donated cans was equivalent to $585 worth of fines! This year we had fewer can donations compared to previous years, however this is likely because library fines had been turned off  in the lead up to the amnesty period, due to the recent August/September Covid-19 lockdown.  All 117 cans will be donated to the Christchurch City Mission’s foodbank next week.
