New WestlawNZ is live – links being changed today!

Mōrena

Today John, the MDL’s and I will start updating all Library links from the old WestlawNZ platform in the library catalogue, Subject Guides and Learn to the new WestlawNZ platform. We expect this work to take all of today and some of tomorrow. I will let you know when this is finished.

You can access the new platform here: https://signon.thomsonreuters.com/federation/nzf?entityID=https%3A%2F%2Fidp.canterbury.ac.nz%2Fidp%2Fshibboleth&returnto=https://anzlaw.thomsonreuters.com/Browse/Home/NewZealand160

It is very similar to the international Westlaw platforms (Westlaw International and WestlawNext Canada) in navigation and functionality. The most significant change is that WestlawNZ now uses the Thomson Reuters key number system as way to organise cases by topic and key number. It is another way to locate cases on a topic. There is still the ability to search the new WestlawNZ by citation and keyword.

We have also changed the way in which you authenticate as a UC user. You will now be asked to sign in to use any Thomson Reuters platform and have the ability to save material to folders and email material to yourself. You also have the option to save favourites and set up your own alerts.

A reminder that I am going to run an introduction to the new WestlawNZ session for Law academic staff on Thursday 25th November at 1pm.  If any Library staff wish to attend I can send you a Zoom link.

We are intending to turn off access to the old WestlawNZ platform at Easter 2022. I will let you know when this occurs.

Any questions please get in touch.

Theresa
