April 2022 marketing highlights

It is my pleasure to share with you the library marketing team’s March-April highlights!

Recent Events & Promotions
  • Puna Passport challengeOur 5 lucky winners were drawn out of a total 64 entries by Anne herself!
  • Library basics 101 Kahoot quiz. – This fun online quiz was designed to help new-to-UC students get familiar with library services from the comfort of their couch! This promotion garnered a significant amount of engagement, with 127 players in total! The top 2 players won a UC branded hoodie each.
  • St Patrick’s Day (17 March)
  • World Sleep Day (18 March)
  • Persian New Year – Nowruz (21 March)
  • World Water Day (22 March)
  • World Health Day (07 April)
  • April Graduation (mid-April) -The library marketing team’s ‘mock graduation garb’ competition is now live on the library’s Instagram page, in recognition of our would-have-been April graduates. Entries will go in the draw to win 1 of 3 graduation bears from UBS!
  • Easter (15-19 April)
  • ANZAC Day (25 April)

Upcoming Events & Promotions
  • Open Christchurch Exhibition (01 May) – Puaka-James Hight will be taking part in the ‘Open Christchurch’ architectural exhibition again this year as a special activity on Sunday 01 May. Events staff from ELS will be on site to welcome and connect with visitors, and to support on-demand and self-guided tours. An engaging display on level 2 will be assembled prior to the event and will include architectural drawings and other archival material from MB Library. This event will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the heart of the University campus to the general public while promoting collections from PJH and MB. Our fabulous events team are getting things ready behind the scenes! In the lead-up to this event, the team at MB have begun an #architecturalapril social media campaign to bring awareness to the spectacular architectural collection housed by MB library.
  • Start of Pacific Language Weeks 2022 (May-October)- Beginning with Rotuman Language Week (Sunday 8 May – 14 May).
  • Pink Shirt Day (20 May)

Displays: World Health Day, World Water Day, and more!

The libraries celebrated World Health Day and World Water Day, with fantastic displays at both PJH and EPS libraries. A new ‘Curious Cabinet’ was also assembled this month and can be admired on level 2 of PJH library. The science fiction area in EPS library received a small facelift this month, with new space-inspired stickers, made in Te Rua. Ka Rawe Ryan!

UCSA President gives Te Rua Makerspace thumbs up

The Te Rua Makerspace received a positive review from the UCSA President in an email to all students earlier this month, providing great exposure for the space. This review was also published on the UCSA website. This is truly a fantastic outcome and represents the team’s hard mahi, including the building of good relationships with the UCSA. Ka rawe Jessica and Ryan!

Gorgeous photo of PJH on Instagram

A gorgeous photo which captured PJH’s beauty in the Autumn sun also generated significant positive engagement this month, and was even reposted by the official UC Twitter page. Ka rawe Juliet for this awesome photograph!

New Food and Drink posters

New posters (courtesy of UC Design) have been put up around PJH and EPS libraries to discourage hot and smelly foods in the library.
