Inside-Out: the future?

Kia Ora Koutou,

As we get into 2023, the Managers’ Team is considering whether the “Inside-Out” feature that we take it in turns to write on Counterculture is something we should be continue.

We sometimes get feedback directly but not much in the way of commentary at all, so we are wondering if this is something the wider team still thinks is useful or valuable.

There is no point us doing things that don’t hit the mark, so we are asking you: is this a feature you’d like to keep seeing in 2023?

CC does not appear to have a polling function in it, so please post comments to this post to let us know! I will also post this in the All-Library Teams-team as another avenue for feedback too.

  1. I read the Inside-Out posts. It’s always good to know what is going on in the different areas in the library. I’d like this to continue on some way, shape or form.

  2. I like the Inside-Out posts too. They give useful information- and remind us that managers are real people. I prefer them on Counterculture, while it lasts.

  3. Kia Ora Koutou – thanks to all of you who replied either directly to this post or on Teams. It is fair to say that there has not been a storm of opinion either way, but what we have received has been positive about the personal dimension of the communication.

Discussing it today at our Managers / Operations meeting, we came to the conclusion that we want to keep a regular, direct series of comms / posts going. However, we will think a bit about “the how and the what” so that it is as meaningful and useful to everyone as possible. More soon as we settle on what path we are going to take.

    Thanks again,

    1. I wonder if it might be interesting to try recording/videoing Insight-Out on Teams, so that people can listen to them instead of reading them? Links could still be included. This might appeal to some people who prefer listening to reading. It might also be nice for staff to be able to see the managers, as some staff might not have met them all. Unfortunately, staff who do not have logins would be disadvantaged, as they cannot access Teams, but can access Counterculture with generic logins.
