I was fascinated by the word ‘inter-semester’: it’s not in OED, though it is on the web (41.1K results on Google; slightly less common than ‘intersemester’ at 42.6K).
‘Mid-year’ is in OED (“rare before 19th cent.”) and has vastly more results on Google at 29.1M.
