The 2023 UCSA Winter Wellness Expo was held in Haere-roa, on Thursday 27 July, 10am-2pm. Overall, it was a great day, and we managed to engage with 228 students (slightly fewer than the 315 in 2022), but they were fruitful engagements nonetheless!
Te Rua Makerspace was the main focus of the library stall at this year’s Winter Wellness Expo. The expo aligns with Te Rua’s goals to enable students to positively impact their wellbeing through creativity and relaxation. The welcoming and engaging energy of Te Rua was well represented by multiple makerspace-made items as well as friendly and knowledgeable library staff. The new knitting machine was on display which was very popular indeed, with students showing keen interest in how it worked and what else could be made with it. We also had a small stash of pre-made knitted hats, and badges made in Te Rua for people to take away with them.
Overall, it was a resounding success and hopefully will see some new faces in the library (and in Te Rua), as well as the return of our regular Te Rua aficionados!
Ngā mihi,
Isabella and Ryan
