Camelot wiki will be retemplated this afternoon

Donna and I will be changing the layout template for Camelot wiki this afternoon (Thursday 15th). There may be some pages that don’t work too well using this template, but we can’t identify them until it is put in place. For this reason, there may be a few changes over the next few weeks as we make modifications to fix any issues.

If you have any problems using Camelot wiki with the new template, please contact Library IT ASAP. If there are any major problems we can revert to the original layout.

Note: The change has been applied, and we can immediately see some problems. However, we’d like to leave the new template there, so we can investigate further, and to get feedback from you about other problems that we may not see and/or whether you like it or not. Please let us know ASAP if it becomes unusable for you and we’ll put the old template back.

  1. Is this our template or a UC template? I find the font a bit narrow to be easy to read. Could we change it to something wider like Verdana or is that decided @ UC level?

  2. This template has been created by the Web team, but it’s just for Camelot. Catherine and I will keep working on making adjustments so keep sending suggestions. Unfortunately we have to experiment with the live version, so you might see things changing around a bit.

We’ll work on making the font a bit more readable.

  3. on the pages linked from the popular labels side bar – the banner is not aligned quite right – needs to be stretched a bit. just a niggley point though

  4. Hi Romy. Unfortunately we can’t control that, because those search pages use the default UC template. It’s a problem that the Web team need to fix.

  5. Donna and I have done quite a bit more work on improving the template (well actually it was mostly Donna with me acting as cheerleader and advisor)! Let us know what you think of our improvements.

There may be things at the level of individual pages that need to be fixed. Let us know and we’ll have a look.

The more we do the more we learn, so keep the suggestions coming.

  6. The icons in the top right don’t seem to be optimised for appearing on that colour background – it’s quite hard to distinguish what they all are. (The ‘delete’ icon’s presence there worries me 🙂 but as long as people are aware they should really truly pay attention to the confirmation screen it brings up…)

  7. I’ve put the icons that used to be on the bottom (like favourites, watchlist, export, printable view) back down the bottom. I’ve also deleted the "remove page" button (which can be found in the main menu), and replaced it with the new page button. There’s also a logout button for those of you who work on shared desks.

We’ve also changed the font to Verdana and tidied up the alignment of that sidebar.

Let us know if there’re any other requests.

    Donna
