ProQuest Academic Complete

Following my Counterculture post in January, just to provide an update that we are now following through with ProQuest to set up access to Academic Complete.  We are hoping this will be live within the next week.  We are also discussing with ProQuest:

  • what assistance they can provide with de-duping patron-driven titles that are on Academic Complete
  • reducing our patron-driven profile to focus on currently published material (2015->) leaving Academic Complete to provide access to material published 2014 or earlier

At this stage we plan to continue to accept updates from YBP for newly published eBooks and add these to the patron-driven profile.

Academic Complete will initially be available via the Ebrary platform however within the next few months this will be replaced with the new ProQuest eBook Central interface, which is to replace both EBL and Ebrary.

Regarding the patron-driven content we will be deleting, we will keep a file of URLs and see if it is possible to check these against Learn in case we are removing content that has been linked to.  Specific patron-driven titles that may get deleted and then turn out to be still needed and not available on Academic Complete can be put back into our patron-driven profile quickly and easily (or purchased).
