It’s hip, it’s happening, it’s APA Week!
What does that mean?
Timed to assist students with many final Semester 1 Assignments, this is an opportunity to help students at crunch time with referencing.
APA Week has been promoted via Intercom, and will soon be promoted on Insiders Blog and the usual forums.
Please promote these workshops to students as an invaluable resource for their end of semester assignments.
If you need to email refer a query regarding Teacher Education, Educational Studies and Leadership, or Sport Coaching, please send it to education@libr.canterbury.ac.nz.
Kim, Kathryn and I all work different hours – this will ensure it is answered promptly (and save you trying to work out our subject specialities and/or whether we’re on leave!).
Remember these outmoded formats? Perhaps you have some lurking around your garage, gathering dust. If you have some vinyl, cassettes or CDs that you no longer want, consider donating them to a good cause.
NZ Music Month Displays
We don’t know exactly what we’re going to with them yet, other than create something awesome and eye-catching. But you know, no original Beatles pressings or rare Smiths vinyl records. Think NKOTB albums and Boney M Christmas compilations (anonymous donations ok).
The Week of the Geek team has doggie pictures for that!

Does anyone have a game of Jenga that they could lend me for Tuesday afternoon? It will be used by a library staff member in challenges with students as part of the treasure hunt.
Week of the Geek is almost upon us and you have the chance to join the events under the guise of ‘working’.
Promote, promote, promote: Whenever you get the chance, make sure to tell students about the awesome events that are on next week: puppies, treasure hunts, games, movies and zombie runs. They can sign up for the treasure hunt and zombie run through the webpage (linked)
Volunteer: We need people to help almost every day. In particular,
So, email myself or Brian McElwaine before somebody else gets in first to take part in Week of the Geek, letting us know when you’re free and what you’d like to volunteer for.
Geek on:)
From Monday 6 March, Education Subject Librarians will be running the following drop-in sessions in Ātea Ako:
(Of course, we’re available to answer queries from any students during these times, not just Education students)
In case you’re getting questions about Resbaz, here is a copy of the final programme with details about where and when:
Brian, Rebecca F, Kiera, Rosamund, Richard and I are working on developing a programme of events for Week of the Geek and have hit a snag. We need your brilliant minds:)
We are having one event per day, and one of those events was going to be a volunteer event where a bunch of students come together to go forth and do some good deed. Unfortunately, the SVA already has a major event planned for that week and other potential partners don’t have the capacity to support such an event.
So, we need a Plan B.
So far we have an idea for an event based around fandoms like Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Dr Who, Sherlock, Anime – a chance for like minded souls to get together and squee.
While we’re working on that, we thought you might have other Plan Bs. Or ideas for the format of a fandom event. Pop your ideas in the comments or email anyone on the group:)
