The EPS Library building project (stage 1, stage 2 and Earthquake repairs) progresses at a good rate. Large teams of contractors have been frantically working to ensure that parts of level 2 and level 3 have nearly been finished.
Currently the 2 Tagging teams have moved to start tagging the EPS monographic collections on Level 2.
The building projects currently are on schedule and it is hoped by the end of January the EPS staff will move into level 1 and the area at the rear of the building will be able to be vacated.
Yes we had our official first non prompted customer to use our flat screens in the Discussion rooms in EPS library on level 2. Even to use it in a professional work based way. I know, that its not bing news, but every river does start with a drop of rain…
Over the Christmas “break” the step stool Daleks have been breeding and we are now over indulged in the wee critters. EPS library wishes to find a home for 26 Library Daleks. If anyone wants them please let me know and we will arrange delivery.
They are mostly 1960’s colours of brown and tan and are all functional.
12pm C1 Lecture Theatre.
Paid Union Meeting, with an introduction by the branch president and an address by Tom Ryan, TEU National President.
1pm March from C1 to the library steps, whereupon we rally.
The branch president will give a short address, followed by open mic for members. We invite those of you who have experienced directly or indirectly the grim rigours of Project STAR to share your thoughts and your experiences. One of our industrial volunteers will have a video camera to hand to record one-on-one any of you who would like to express your thoughts off-mic for posterity. A photographer from the Christchurch Press is also expected.
2pm Barbecue at TEU House, 41 Creyke Road. The kitchen is stocked with meaty and vegetarian fare which branch committee members will cook for your eating pleasure.
The two middle discussion (Rooms 2 & 3) rooms have been booked out all Day tomorrow (Tuesday 25th May) for the UOC Electricians to work on the power outlets below the flat screen TVs.
We need some library volunteers to help hand out pamphlets (wearing Heart UC Library badges) before the 2pm forum with Rodd today at 2pm. Meet at C1 at 1.50pm.
Please let me know if you can help.
There is also the students forum with the VC today at 1pm in A1 lecture theatre, hopefully those library staff who are also USCA members can perhaps as a nice curly question to Rodd.
The Level 2 Mopier (North Side) CS Gold unit is not connecting to it’s server. Producing the error “LOC 22” and only showing 5 copies for students. I have rung and logged a job with Uni IT to investigate.
Someone had unplugged all the network cables. Causing for both the Mopier and CS gold unit to fail. These have been re-established, but the CS gold unit is still not responding. If we get errors in the future we will need to investigate all possible reasons for the failure, physical and network.
