I am very sorry to let you know that Kerry passed away in the weekend. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour earlier in the year.
Kerry was the Manager, Education Library among a number of roles over time, and most recently worked at Lincoln University. She was one of those special people to work with.
We are thinking about Kerry, Martin, Jeff and her family at this time.
We will be interviewing three candidates on Thursday afternoon for the AUL Learning Teaching and Research position on Thursday afternoon.
This will be followed by presentations on Monday 5 December, 9.00am-11.15am in the Ilam Room, Okeover 101. The presentations will be 20 minutes followed by five minutes of questions about the presentation. The first one will start at 9.15am. Staff can provide written feedback that will be collected at the end of the sessions and shared with the panel.
Please support our excellent candidates during this process.
Congratulations to everyone who was received a Rosalind Patrick Award today.

Fiona T – Contribution towards her MIS at Victoria
Rā – to attend the Human Synergistics Conference in 2016
Joan – to attend VALA in 2018

There were a number of other applications that were funded from the Library budget.
It is now time to think about 2017, but you don’t have to wait for Rosalind Patrick Award. Discuss options with your manager, put in an application and it might happen. I am keen to spread opportunities across a wide range of staff where possible.
Teresa (Horn) worked for the UC Library and was University Librarian at Lincoln. She is currently Director Research & Collections , University of Melbourne. We wish her well in her new position.
In the next few weeks I will be joining staff for morning tea in various locations. Feel free to drop in at any time or location and talk about anything that interests you or you would like me to know.

Please note that we have kept open the option to close a Library on the 4-6 January 2017 to ensure all staff are able to take leave if they wish. If this is the case, then staff from the closed library will have the option to work in the Central Library. Anne
There are a number of cultural narrative documents being produced by Puamiria to inform for the UC Campus Master Planning and other building projects that will be of interest to staff.
Also included is the kōwhaiwhai guide designed specifically for UC by Hori Mataki and also endorsed by Te Maire as mana whenua.
Please don’t reuse images or other pieces of these documents without consultation.
I been informed by her nephew that sadly Miss Barbara Harris, who was Sciences Librarian at Canterbury for a long period up to her retirement in 1988, died this morning. There will be a number of staff who remember Barbara well during her time at the Library. The photos below were taken at her retirement and are in the MB collection. Ngā mihi nui, Anne
