COVID update 1/6/22

We continue to get a few people testing positive for COVID.

There also seems to be a bit of a surge happening with both COVID and other viruses.    Please continue to wear your mask and get a flu jab if you haven’t already.   You can book at the Health Centre where they are free for staff.

In LTR:

  • Kiera has Covid.  She was last on campus on Tuesday.
  • Theresa has Covid. She was last on campus on Sunday.

We have a few more people who are household contacts from a number of teams.

Please continue to self-monitor for symptoms and if you feel at all unwell, please self-isolate and get a test.

We wish a safe and speedy recovery to our colleagues and their whanau, and we will be working to ensure they receive good support.

Change to Library Traffic Light Framework

The UC Library Traffic Light Framework has been updated today.  The framework determines what services are in place at each stage.   UC Health and Safety have advised us that there are no longer any distancing requirements in orange.   There is now very little difference between Orange and Green settings apart from mask wearing.    Under orange masks are highly recommended rather than mandatory in red.

It still may be necessary to make changes to hours or services if staffing levels are reduced due to staff testing positive for COVID or isolating as household contacts.

The Library Covid-19 webpage has also been changed today, to reflect we are now in the Orange setting and there are now no building capacity limits or distancing requirements.  From today, EPS Library will no longer require Canterbury Card for entry and the doors will be unlocked.  We decided not to change to the orange setting on our website until now because EPS Library still had entry restrictions in place.

These changes have taken a while to be confirmed because of the extended Easter/Anzac break for some staff and it was term break.  We were also waiting for official staff communications from UC about moving to Orange setting, but it did not eventuate.   UC is at orange according to the UC website.

I am aware that some staff will have concerns about the opening up of services and returning to work.  Please be kind, wear a mask, and take care of each other.   If you need support please talk to someone.

Spam emails from Anne Scott

Kia ora

A number of staff are receiving spam emails reportedly from me requesting various things such as “completing an errand discreetly”.  Please do not respond to these emails.

First check the email address.   Delete the email if it is not from anne.scott@canterbury.ac.nz.

If you have any concerns about an email from me asking you to do something out of the ordinary, check with me or your manager first before responding.
