I am very pleased to welcome Emmaline to the Customer Services team.
Emmaline starts Monday 22nd May as a library assistant and will be with us until the 20th of October 17. Emmaline will be based at the Education Library (this position provides cover for Jane as she acts for Ra). She is a Victoria University of Wellington graduate. She has had some library experience from working in the Wellington Public Library and more recently has been doing customer service related work while abroad in the UK.
Please make Emmaline feel welcome as she joins our Library whānau.
We are having a morning tea this Wednesday at 10am to celebrate Rosamund’s time with us and to wish her the very best with her new adventures in Nelson. It will be held in the lvl 2 workroom and feel free to bring something yummy to share.
A power outage is planned for Sat 22nd of April (5.30pm to 8.30pm) that will affect the Puaka-James Hight building. The library will be already closed but please see below the activities that will need to be completed as a result.
Before departing on Saturday please shut down and power off all workstations, sort assists and self-check machines (using the admin cards). Place a sign on the doors accessing the afterhours drop box advising borrowers can return books to the EPS or MB drop boxes.
On opening on Sunday, the end of day process will need to be run manually before sending out the notices.
Advising there will be no Library Hamper runs on Monday 24th April and these will resume again on Wednesday the 26th April. Anything that is required urgently at another location will need to be transported by library staff. Mail delivery services are not impacted by this and will be operating as per normal.
While we will be having a restful break away from the Libraries over Easter the same cannot be said for our work environments. So before you go on break there are a couple of tasks you will have to do in preparation of the activities that will be occurring in your absence.
Firstly the fumigation of the libraries and warehouse.
Before departing on Thursday please leave cupboards/draws you wish to have fumigated slightly ajar.
Anything you do not wish to be fumigated e.g cups, eating utensils or goldfish please take these home or put them in a closed draw. If leaving them here we recommend washing them before using again (not the goldfish).
Secondly the power outage that will affect the Puaka-James Hight building, Macmillan Brown Library and Library Warehouse on Tuesday 18th of April.
Before departing on Thursday please shut down and power off all workstations, sort assists and self-check machines (using the admin cards).
On our return on Wednesday, the end of day process will need to be run manually before sending out the notices. Peter will be available from 8am to assist with devices not wanting to start up again.
The library buildings are a no go zone over the Easter break and if you have any questions or concerns please contact myself or your manager.
The advert for the Team Leader Customer Services vacancy is now live on the UC website. The position is permanent full time, and the advert closes Tuesday 18th April 2017. ICT have advised there is an issue with students losing files, which is causing an understandable amount of stress. They believe the issue is linked to the MAC computers on campus. So they have shut down these computers in both the Library and Erskine and will be putting up signage advising these are not to be used. Further testing will be done next week and currently there is no ETA on when these machines will be returned to service. If you see students attempting to use these machines please highlight the current risks and advise against using them until the issue has been resolved.
Due to health and safety considerations there will be no hamper runs on Orientation Day, Friday 17th February 2017. The mail and courier runs will be moved to the afternoon and interloan materials will actioned at this time.
If there are any urgent requests requiring an item to moved between libraries this will need to be completed by library staff.
