Slow computer connections

ICTS have just advised the following:

We seem to currently be experiencing slow connections to/from servers across campus. This can result in slow responses to any service currently provided on campus. There have also been some dropped connections.

We are working on gathering more information and isolating the issue.

No web or blog updates this morning

Hello Everyone

If you have anything urgent to go on to CounterCulture this morning, could you please send it to eServices to post, rather than posting it yourself. Could you please hold all other blog postings and web changes as they may be lost.

We have been working for a couple of months on moving our Web and Blogs from an old server to a new one. We are going to try this change-over around 11 am. If it causes problems we’ll switch back. But during this time it is possible that any changes or postings could be lost.

Thanks, Peter K

Library Web Site – moving servers: notify changes

Hello Everyone

Over the next week we hope to move the Library’s web site off its current server, onto a new server. For a wee while we will be running two versions – the live site, and a test site.

We will try and keep these in synch, but to minimize the risk of changes being lost, could you please ensure you let eServices know of any changes you make.

Sometime next week, we will probably lock the live site for a day or more while we do the actual move.

Thanks, Peter

EbscoHost problems

**I have been speaking to an Ebsco rep (4.00 pm). This is a worldwide problem with no ETA for recovery. However, there will be some intermittent access – sometimes you can connect, other times you cannot. Peter**

All Ebsco databases seem to be unavailable at the moment. This is a problem at the Ebsco end and we have not yet been able to find out from them what is happening – hopefully it will be a brief outage.
