Just a reminder to please fill in the appropriate form when you have checked in a book that comes up with a “Lost now found” message. This is especially important for lost books that are returned to a Library that is not their home location. Please fill out the form and put it inside the book before it goes in the hamper.
Staff who deal with lost books have no easy way of knowing that the books have been returned unless a form is filled in. There may be an invoice to cancel, a refund to arrange, or check-in notes to clear from the item.
Thanks,
Angela.
Morning All,
The LAWS330 students have been asked to look at case where Kirk v Fleming is cited. [Full citation Kirk v Fleming (1928 — 35) MacG. Cop. Cas 44 ]
Students may ask for the MacGillivray’s Copyright Cases which we don’t hold.
Sara and I (as well as their lecturer) have a copy of the case if students ask for help looking for it as their lecturer doesn’t want to make it to easy for them to find so isn’t putting it on Learn at this stage.
Please get students to see or email us for this.
Thanks
Theresa
The 2016 TELSIG Forum will be held at the University of Canterbury in July 2016.
The theme is Creating change and shaping success and will celebrate the hard work and achievements of New Zealands remarkable tertiary education library and information professionals.
Romy and I are on the organising committee (along with colleagues from CPIT and Lincoln) and would love to see a strong UC Library presence either by attending or presenting on the wonderful work we do.
At the stage we can promise professional development, networking and lots of yummy food over two days. You won’t need to be a TelSig member to attend although registration will be cheaper if you are.
We’ll keep you updated as planning progresses and please ask either of us if you have any questions.
Thanks
Theresa
Apologies for the searching problems yesterday. We think we found the cause and did a index rebuild over-night which should have fixed the issues.

This message from ITS:
We are currently experiencing performance issues on computers as result of a problem with our file server. This means that staff and students may be experiencing issues saving and accessing files, running applications, and logging on or off their profiles.
Vendor support has been contacted and we will provide another update when we have more information, or the problem is resolved.
We apologise for any inconvenience these issues may be causing.
At the moment MultiSearch is skewed towards eBooks and a number of the links to full text journals are failing, indicating we are not a client of Serials Solutions.
We have reported this.

I’ve also noticed that ScienceDirect are having problems linking – they acknowledge this on their results page.
At 9 am tomorrow Ezproxy will be upgraded. This will be quick – perhaps 10 minutes, and will not break existing connections. But for a short time any connection going through an Ezproxy link will fail.
The upgrade is to a newer version of Ezproxy and is intended to improve security settings in light of recently discovered flaws in some widely-used security protocols.
Thanks, Peter K

Many of you will have noticed the banner along the top of Camelot advising that the Wiki would be unavailable from 5.30 pm tonight (Thursday). We have more information – this is an urgent security fix and is expected to take up to 45 minutes.
