Horizon upgrade: Show weekend

We may be doing a small Horizon upgrade over Show Weekend.

This upgrade does not change the way Horizon functions – although a new client will be released. It is a small upgrade to add in some background features for BlueCloud compatibility in future. We have been testing it for several months and haven’t seen anything of concern – or indeed anything different.

If we go ahead with this (which is likely) I’ll send out more information next week.

University of Auckland digitization strategies

Those of you on NZLibs will have seen this, but for those of you who have not there is a copy of the recently revised University of Auckland Digitization Guidelines available on the AUL website

Over the years AUL have published a number of documents in this area which have been very helpful to other libraries. As we re-work our own digital strategies, I hope we can contribute to some of the public conversations happening within the Library and heritage sector.

Summon (Multisearch) to move to Summon 2.0 over Show Weekend

The look of our Multisearch results will change over Show Weekend as we move to Summon 2.0. This was something we originally intended to do in January this year, but postponed because some other Libraries reported teething problems.

These seem to have been sorted-out and Summon 2.0 is now the norm. it brings a new look, and additional functions (e.g. it works much better than the original on mobile sites). Reports from other Libraries suggest that students adapt easily.

There are details of the changes on the Summon pages on Camelot.

You can look at the Summon 2.0 interface now by searching using this link.

After implementation, we will review Summon 2.0 to see if there are changes needed in the background settings.
