Blackboard is now able to integrate seamlessly with Turnitin so students can submit their work through Blackboard and have a Turnitin originality report generated (this is seen by the lecturer only).
Students need a class ID and password which should be given to them by their lecturer or tutor. If Turnitin is not linked to their Blackboard course, students may need to logon to the Turnitin site. enter their email address and password, then their course password.
Help sheets have been created to help staff and students use this new feature.
I have left a message on Vanessa Weir’s answerphone today. I think she is the person who owns the 2 paua rings left amongst a pile of books returned tothe library on Friday 13th. The rings are in the lost property.. Kathryn
If a user comes to the desk after hours with an overdue, or about to be overdue Interloan, and asks for a renewal, please do NOT CKI in the interloan (to save the user being fined) and then ask the Interloans Team to renew it the next day.
This creates a lot of confusion for us and removes the history of the ‘loan’.
The user will just have to accept that it cannot be ‘renewed’ that night and that Interloans staff will deal with it as soon as they can the next working day. A renewal is on an item that is on issue, not on a returned item.
Advertising will be on the library home-page from Thursday this week.

We are setting up a working group looking at the wording and format of the Notices.
We are interested in improving communication with our borrowers, given that the Library sends between 2,700 and 12,000 print and emails notices per month. So, we would love to hear from you if you feel that there are improvements to be made in the wording and format. Let us know if you have any suggestions, comments or ideas.
We would appreciate hearing from you by 6pm, Friday 20/07/2007. Please email Sandra Gover or Seren Wendelken for further information.
