Arrived today in the hampers destined for the Central Library. Please give me a call on x8009 or send me an email if you know anything about these. There is no accompanying note saying who sent them or who they are intended for.
– 28 books classified at “Z” – assume they’ve come from the Warehouse
– 2 “Coalgate Oral Health Education Kits” – have a couple of barcodes on them which don’t exist on Horizon
– A plastic folder with a yellow sticky on it saying “Kit please” containing 2 spiral bound booklets. 1 entitled “Master copies of student handouts” and the other entitled “Fair trade for all”
There are a number of inventories happening at the moment. It would be good to know (soon) what plans people have for inventory work over the summer vacation, if you haven’t already let me know. We need to plan for availability of scanners in particular. Thanks, Tim Stedman
Our team will be sad to say goodbye to Violeta for 12 months as she and her family are moving to Melbourne. Violeta’s husband has been offered a job there on a 12 month contract. Violeta will be reducing her hours during October and then taking one year’s leave without pay from November 08 – November 09.
Also I will be taking parental leave at the end of this year. This is likely to be from mid December through to early February.
I will be working with Cynthia, Margaret and Vicki on the impact of these events and arranging cover for them.
I have some spare copies of the Dewey Decimal Classification (edition 19, 1979) and AACR2 (3 of each). Contact me directly if interested. Maybe someone doing the MLIS might be interested? Tim S
Some Econ students are getting various error messages when trying to access this from a library computer. They need to clean up their profile, then try logging in to another machine. Access isn’t working from the Loft at all apparently. Tim
Note from Library IT – To clean up the profile
Get the student to log on at a PC in Central Library (not the loft PCs) using:
User name: profile
Password: (no password, leave it as blank)
Then follow the instructions on the screen to type in their own Username and Password, the PC will be logged off automatically at the end.
Then they should be able to access the database on another computer.
