Progress on Values

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Values Workshops and/or provided feedback through the postcards on what they want the library to be known for. The thoughtfulness of the input has been impressive. Library Managers met today with Andrea Bankier to review all the feedback from the postcards and sessions, and have begun working on drawing together the common themes. There is a bit more work to be done then a draft of the values will then go out to Library staff for further comment. Managers will also work with Andrea to plan how we implement and use the values including the ideas from the workshops. It is likely to include managers running sessions for staff. The aim currently is to have everything completed by the end of March.

The summary sheets from the value workshop sessions have been put up for staff to see in the corridor between Coral’s Office and Meeting Room 9 where they will remain until the end of next week. Photos of these will be available as well soon for those who are unable to come to Level 5.

Your continued feedback is most welcome.

Morning tea – 4 August

Kia ora. There will be a morning tea 10-11am, Monday 4 August for Library staff. This is the day when the Library will officially become one department again. many of the changes in the Library structure will take affect and we have a number of people in new positions. Tea, coffee and juice will be provided but please bring a plate. I am aware that we need to keep services open and that it will be difficult for some staff to attend, so please talk to your manager first. Ngâ mihi, Anne

Thesis in three

The 2014 Thesis in three will be held on Tuesday 19th August at 7pm, venue still to be determined. It is well worth attending to see the high quality of our postgraduate students and the breadth of research that is done at UC. If you would like a taste then see last year at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Utbb567pQ7c. Cheers, Anne

Library Projects Coordinator

A fixed term Library Project Coordinator position in LSS has been advertised. The successful candidate will work on a number of projects through until December, in particular running a project to review the Library business information on K: and other drives, SharePoint, wiki and in print (Operational Plan 4.16). They will also help with other Library Projects. Which ones will depending on time and skills. If you are interested in this position the closing date is 13 July. We will consider a secondment as it is a great opportunity for staff development. Cheers, Anne

Library Planning

Library managers have reviewed the following:

The 2014 Operational Plan has been updated. The traffic light system indicates progress on the various objectives. In some cases the dates have been changed to indicate a more likely completion date. Most areas are on track which is particularly pleasing given all the other things happening at the moment.

Managers have also been working on a Risk Register for the Library. This is a work in progress and will be shared with Learning Resources.

Comments on these documents are most welcome. Cheers, Anne
