ICTS have made some changes to Payment Plus. It should now work for staff with money in a CSGold account. If there is a positive balance on CSGold it will now debit the account in all cases. Please report any problems to Library IT. Thanks, Anne

Login and printing access changes
From ICTS
From 5:00pm today (Tuesday April 27), ICTS will be making some changes that will have a minor impact on student and staff log in and printing access.
Students
• Students may be denied printing or account access during the day instead of overnight, as internet logs will now be processed every four hours
• If a student’s account goes seriously negative (more than $5.00 overdrawn), they will receive a pop-up when they try to login, which will say “Account expired – please contact system administrator”
Staff
• Staff will be able to print on all print queues, including student workroom printers
• Staff will still be able to log in if their account becomes overdrawn. Previously they were denied access with an “account expired” message. However, if their account becomes more than $50.00 overdrawn, they will be denied access and will see the “Account expired – please contact system administrator” message
• Staff will not be able to access the internet or print when their account becomes overdrawn
The ability for staff to log on while their account is overdrawn (up to -$50.00) should prevent problems that were caused by being disabled over a weekend or long break.
LIbrary staff should contact Library IT if there are problems with their staff account. Others should contact ICT Service Desk
Cheers, Anne
Staff charges through CSGold
Library IT have been working with ICTS on the problems associated with charging staff through RAS and CSGold. We hope that the fixes will go live either this week or next. It is very hard to test if the changes are going to work properly in all scenarios so it will be a case of putting the solution in place and pulling out rapidly if there is a problem. Cheers, Anne
Summon Update – 31 March
Progress report
• EPS Library holdings now display correctly
• Subject indexing – fixed but not yet tested
• No deletions have been processed yet
Cheers, Anne
Digital Library in Summon
The first attempt at indexing Digital Library in Summon is now live. For instance search
“ursula bethel” and then limit by content type of archival material and photograph (looks like art went into that category which needs to be fixed).
or “zealand torts” and note facet to ‘archival material’
Library IT are working with MB to create item level records for archives from the inventories which would allow a EAD-like harvest which would improve searching for archives.
There are lots of issues that will need to be worked through over the coming months, but for the first time we have one place where all the Library material from Digital Library, the repository and the catalogue can be searched. Cheers, Anne
Summon update – 17 Mar
Summon is now starting to recommend specialist databases with some searches
http://canterbury.summon.serialssolutions.com/search?s.q=nursing
http://canterbury.summon.serialssolutions.com/search?s.q=acm
Please add some better examples below if you find them. Longer term I hope we will be able to customise this ourselves.
Summon will be reindexed over the next few weeks which will fix some of the problems with subject searching.
Cheers, Anne
Summon Update – 11 Mar
There have been a number of changes with Summon this week
• UC Research Repository is now available for searching. Digital Library is currently being worked on by SS.
• EPS Library – changes to Library facets are expected by Monday
• Subject headings searches – 3 separate problems have been identified
• Deleted records still appearing in Summon – no progress
• Due date now displays in availability
Please forward any comments from users to Library IT, or comment here on any concerns. Serials Solutions are actively working to fix problems. Are there any vendors that you would like to see participating in Summon, particularly from New Zealand?
Cheers, Anne
CSGold not Diebold
Please use the term CSGold rather than Diebold when talking about the card transaction payment system. It causes confusion for newer staff in ICTS and elsewhere who don’t know what you are talking about. Thanks, Anne
Critical Security patches
A number of critical Microsoft security patches have been released by ICTS today. Please ensure that all PCs, netbooks and laptops are turned on in your area, including storage areas, long enough to pick these up and then rebooted over the next few days. Report any issues to Library IT. Thanks, Anne
Library IT
Library IT had meetings today on the outcome of the ICT Change Proposal. Lin and Shane will be transferred to Desktop Support in three months, but may continue to be physically located in the Library. The decisions on the remaining staff in Library IT, including Margaret and Alison, are on hold until mid April when the Library and the remainder of the PVC Learning Resources change proposals come out. Some other IT staff in Service Departments are in a similar situation. The Strategy and Innovation Group is also on hold. Anne
