Window latches

A stitch in time….

On two occasions very recently during Extended Hours we have had to deal with window latches, in staff work areas, that have fallen off completely leaving the window swinging free. We have been told by Security that they do not deal with maintenance issues like this after hours, and although I can handle a screwdriver ‘with the best of them’ it doesn’t help when the screws have vanished as well! We don’t keep supplies of screws at the Lending Desk, and taping the window shut from the inside is not a good solution.

Would you please be pro-active and deal with any latch that is becoming loose either by putting in a BEIMS request to have it fixed more securely, or…. I can show you where to find a screwdriver or two!

Thanks,
Sandra

Library PACS

On Sunday 24 August all Library PACS, with the exception of the Education Library, have been set to automatically shutdown at the time settings for the Central Library. In other words, if you see the PACS still running when you leave to go home please ignore them! Lin will restore the correct settings as soon as possible next week.

Level 2 Printers

The following printers are to be left ‘ON’, and do not need to be turned off when the Library closes for the night:
• In ‘The Den’,
• by the Help Desk,
• in the 3day loan, and Checkin areas.

The only printer to be turned ‘OFF’ is one in the Restricted Loans workspace.

Printers by the Copy Centre are not included in our closing routines.

Thank you,
Sandra
