Access to EBSCO is ‘down’ at present. Other major databases do not seem to be affected.

Loading funds to Casual Copying cards
Problems experienced loading funds to Casual Copying cards, via the Eftpos reload stations in the Central and Law Libraries, have now been resolved.

Interbranch hamper labels
There seems to be a distinct shortage the laminated ‘Law Library’ hamper labels in circulation so if you know where there may be a nice wee stash, would you please siphon off a few and send them over to the Central Library.
Thanks, Sandra
Window latches
A stitch in time….
On two occasions very recently during Extended Hours we have had to deal with window latches, in staff work areas, that have fallen off completely leaving the window swinging free. We have been told by Security that they do not deal with maintenance issues like this after hours, and although I can handle a screwdriver ‘with the best of them’ it doesn’t help when the screws have vanished as well! We don’t keep supplies of screws at the Lending Desk, and taping the window shut from the inside is not a good solution.
Would you please be pro-active and deal with any latch that is becoming loose either by putting in a BEIMS request to have it fixed more securely, or…. I can show you where to find a screwdriver or two!
Thanks,
Sandra
Central Library – Lights on Levels 3, 8, and 10
Noted ‘fixed’ Saturday 26 September.
A few of the ‘proximity readers’ that activate the lights on each floor of the Central Library are not operating correctly. At the moment we are having problems turning the lights off at night on Levels 3, 8 and 10. A BEIMS request has been sent to Facilities Management today.

‘Your Magazine’ insert in ‘The Press’
The Saturday issue of The Press has a new insert entitled ‘Your Magazine’.
However, Chris Lyall has let us know that the Library’s copy of the insert arrives a day earlier on a Friday. ‘Your Magazine’ will located in the Current periodicals display until the microfilm arrives for that particular month’s Press.

‘Keyword’ searches on catalogue
At the moment catalogue searches that involve the use of ‘keywords’ will not produce any results. Other search terms are functioning normally, and any catalogue searches through Horizon are also unaffected.
Peter K has been contacted and he will attempt a ‘fix’ which if successful will restore ‘keyword’ searching later this morning.

Library PACS
On Sunday 24 August all Library PACS, with the exception of the Education Library, have been set to automatically shutdown at the time settings for the Central Library. In other words, if you see the PACS still running when you leave to go home please ignore them! Lin will restore the correct settings as soon as possible next week.

Level 2 Printers
The following printers are to be left ‘ON’, and do not need to be turned off when the Library closes for the night:
• In ‘The Den’,
• by the Help Desk,
• in the 3day loan, and Checkin areas.
The only printer to be turned ‘OFF’ is one in the Restricted Loans workspace.
Printers by the Copy Centre are not included in our closing routines.
Thank you,
Sandra
