During the next two weeks you may encounter questions from MUSI 131 and SOCI 111 students as both have Library assignments to complete. For the MUSI 131 students the assignment is worth 10% of their course marks and for SOCI 111 5%.
It would be preferable not to directly give them the answers to assignment questions, but please do give them the information they need to find the answers themselves. There are extensive notes on Learn to assist the MUSI 131 students.
Also, please do not hesitate to refer questions to me either on AskLive, by email or on extension 8731.
About 300 SOCI 111 students will be completing a library exercise this week and early next. This is a learning opportunity for them, not a test, so, if asked, please give them all the help / explanation they need. Over the next week the Soci 111 students will be making their way through a library exercise. I’ve strongly encouraged them to ask at the Help Desk if there’s anything they don’t understand about using the Library.
In particular they may need help with using the electronic copy of the Dictionary of Sociology (featured on the Reference page of the Subject Guide), interpreting the chapter reference, and finding the print/ electronic copies of the journal article references.
There is a copy of the exercise on the Help Desk clipboard.
My suggestion is to change the Key Databases box to a Quick Links box, the quick links to include Library catalogue, Key databases, Other relevant subject guides, [Health Sciences Centre] i.e. a link to the relevant department/ school. How do you think this would work?
