As part of the consultation process Alex would like to meet with staff to discuss the change proposal and provide an opportunity for them to ask questions. The following meetings have been arranged for you all to attend.

Tuesday 4th February 11-12pm
We are in the process of finding available rooms and this will be confirmed later in the week.
Applications are being called for the 2013 Rosalind Patrick Award by Thursday 31st October 2013. Please submit your application to Janette Winks, LR Administrator by Thursday 31st October, 2013.
This year we are particularly interested in applications from people who are looking to visit other Unviersity Libraries or maybe to bring a guest speaker to UC.
The Rosalind Patrick Professional Development Award was established in 2002, in memory of Rosalind Patrick who was employed in the University of Canterbury Library from 1980 to 2002. An award is given each year to a member or members of the University of Canterbury Library staff, to undertake some form of professional development. This was a cause dear to Rosalind’s heart and Dr Brent Layton, Rosalind’s partner. Dr Layton was keen to see a fund for such a purpose set up in memory of Rosalind and her work at the University of Canterbury.
The Rosalind Patrick Development Award celebration will be held towards the end of November. Time and venue to be announced.
Further information and an application form can be found on the HR section of the Library wiki.
We look forward to receiving your applications.

Rod is conducting his annual process of meeting with staff across the University. Two meetings have been set up for Library staff and you can decide which you attend in discussion with your line manager. The meeting details are as follows;
Wednesday 4th September 3-4pm in the Seminar Room, Level 3, Central Library

We have had a number of new staff joining the team over the last few weeks including the Electronci Learning Media team who are based on Level 5 of James Hight. Anne and I thought it would be nice to have morning tea to welcome them to the team. This will take place on Friday 12th July, 10am in the level 5 staffroom (please bring a plate).
The programme for Janine’s visit is almost finalised and includes a meeting with library staff for them to provide feedback and thoughts on the library structure and University Librarian role. Details below;

We will also be taking the opportunity to recognise staff who recently completed the Mâtauranga Mâori within NZ Libraries workshop. I will be presenting the certificates and the group will be reflecting on the workshop with you.
I have added another meeting room to the library booking system on Level 5 using the room opposite my office. It is meeting room 9, seats up to 6 people but doesn’t have any AV.
Thank you all so much for the wonderful send off and the beautiful farewell gifts. It has taken me a good fortnight to calm down enough to be able to write something after the flurry of the past few weeks!! I have survived my first week in my new job. I’m getting used to being in a large open plan office and not being able to contol other people’s noise let alone make as much as I usually do myself!! And being in a ‘paperless office’ is a huge culture shock for the [ancient]hoarder archivist come librarian in me! But the other people are great and there are all sorts of interesting projects happening that I’m slowly starting to understand and hope to assist with.
Thank you all for being such good friends and colleagues over the years. I learned so much from you all in my time at the University and I very much look forward to catching up with you in the future, both privately and professionally. I’m going to try not to haunt the Macmillan Brown Library, and wish everyone all the very best.
