Ko tēnei te rā mutunga o Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2017, ā ko tēnei te pātai mutunga hoki – last chance to be in to win a treat!
Today we have found two online quizzes to access – one easier and one a bit harder. Have a go, challenge yourself, then send one of the questions and it’s answer to either myself or Rebecca T.
Next Friday 19th May from 3pmonwards the Macmillan Brown Library Team are hosting a Pēpi/Baby Shower for Waitangi. We have booked the Pasifika Lali Room 208, so come and celebrate with us as we wish Waitangi well as she and her whānau look forward to welcoming a new kōtiro (baby girl).
Any gift contributions can be dropped off at MB beforehand or brought along to the celebration. We also welcome any tasty kai contributions to the afternoon tea, hot and cold drinks will be provided. Tamariki welcome, toy box and cuddles available.
Today Te Matatini National Kapa Haka Festival starts, held this year in Heretaunga by hosts Ngāti Kahungunu. Macmillan Brown has a PC devoted to streaming the event over the next couple of days or you can check it out on the Māori Television website. See here for more info. Mauri ora!
As you may have noticed, the MB stairwell area has been having a fresh new paintjob and it looks great! Best practice around preserving our heritage collections indicates that MB library can no longer host it’s current group of triffids in the lobby, nor have plants in our upstairs spaces. We will be retaining 1-2 manageable plants and thankfully we are situated near the gorgeous forestry trees to get our green fix. Would anyone like an extremely large pot plant or two? We have 4 up for grabs, wander over if you want to view them. Thanks, Gabrielle
