It is with great sadness that I have to let you know of Gerald’s passing this morning at 2am. Gerald moved into hospice care on Tuesday and spent yesterday surrounded by his family.
As a true gentleman, who made time for everyone, who loved to share his enthusiasms and interests with others, and who has been a central part of the Library team for many years, Gerald will be deeply missed.
Update from the latest meeting is available here: K:\LIBR-Library\Projects\Education-Library-move-2016\Meetings\Library Project Team\Collections-Group-Meeting-17-03-22

All content from our old sites moved to the new sites in December 2016.
Records & Information Management provided training to some Library staff. These included people identified as needing to start using the SP2013 sites straight away, e.g.
subject librarians so they could add their info literacy stats
subject librarians and flexible learning advisors so they could use the Programme Coordination site to work on course proposals
IRWG so they could manage their meetings and supplier communications
managers so they could keep updating the Operational Plan
What’s still to come?
Completion of the main Library site (admin staff have been chosen from each team so they can help complete this)
Training for all Library staff
Sorting out of access – at the moment not all staff have been given the correct permissions so they can view/edit/delete documents
As work progresses in Central Library, ready for the arrival of the Education Library in late 2017, it is also worth noting the proposed transformation of the Education Library into a store.
Some ceramics will move from Macmillan Brown Library into Education early this year. This will move them out of an area which was not suitable for their long-term preservation. Once the Education Library ceases to need to support the Dovedale campus, the building will be used as a store for other materials.
The Library continues to look at improving its storage facilities. This is one small step, which creates some breathing space and a chance to reassess the current moratorium on donations.
Our informal hour with Rod Carr is tomorrow from 2-3pm. Rod will join us in Okeover House for food and questions.
And if you want to ask a question, but not in person, I will be happy to pose questions on your behalf… please add to the Comments or email me directly.
Reminder: the first scheduled power outage will run from 7am until 5pm tomorrow. This affects the Puaka-James Hight building, including The Undercroft.
It is advisable to power down your computer when you leave work today.
