Kia ora. Did you go to Te Matatini? Wasn’t it an awesome event?! If you did go and you picked up any spare brochures, programmes or advertising material, could you send them our way to add to MB’s ephemera collection.
Nga mihi, Caroline
Kia ora. Thanks to everyone who has sent in election material for our ephemera collection. Do keep sending over any you receive or have lying around on your paper recycling files. The more the merrier.
Thanks
Caroline
Kia ora koutou. The Macmillan Brown Library collects political material for its ephemera collection. I would really appreciate it if you can send me any election leaflets, posters or other ephemeral material that come your way over the next few weeks.
Thanks very much, Caroline, Macmillan Brown Library
We will be farewelling Sue with an afternoon tea from 3pm on her last day, Tue 15th July in the Pacific Lali Room 208 (across the walkway from the MB library entrance).
Do come if you can make it. Bring a plate if possible but otherwise just yourself.
See you there.
Caroline
Kia ora. Does anyone know anything about the metal framing sitting on top of one of the architectural drawings cabinets near the end of the Library Warehouse? They stick out into the walkway a little. I am about to put through a request to have them disposed of. If you need them to stay in the Warehouse or want them to be somewhere else could you please let me know before the end of next week. If you know they are definitely junk, let me know too and I’ll get rid of them sooner. Thanks, Caroline S.
Kia ora koutou
Yesterday I sent an update from Gaby on the Change Proposal to everyone on my list of library TEU members. If you are a member of the TEU but didn’t get the update, let me know and I’ll add you to the distribution list.
Thanks
Caroline
As part of my PD&R and also because I’m interested in it, I have been looking at reducing the use (and waste) of paper.
As a group the Education Liaison Librarians have implemented these ideas:
All lesson plans and hand-outs etc. to be proof-read by a colleague before printing.
Worksheets to be one between two students (also encourages collaborative learning).
Only provide hand-outs where the students will be immediately applying the information (e.g. not in general beginning of the year classes)
Reduced feedback forms to A5 size (We considered online feedback but decided against it as our classes usually have 2 students per computer and it would have halved the number of responses)
I’m keen for other ideas to further reduce paper wastage. If you have any ideas or comments about what’s happening in your area, I would really appreciate it if you could either post your responses here or email me.
Thanks
Caroline
