Change of links for library database pages

Hi all
As per our earlier Counterculture post, we’ve recently made changes to the old server we used to store all the Horizon reports and dynamically-driven bits of webpages on. Consequently old (pre December 2012) links to horizon reports or dynamically driven webpages (e.g. databases by subject and other biblioplus pages) will now break.
There seems to be quite a few of these on some of the subject guides. I’ve sent through a request to the provider of LibGuides to update all these links but it may take a day or so for them to complete. If you’re concerned about broken links in your subject guides you may want to go in and update all the links you have to database subject pages e.t.c. Replace any URL’s strings with:
http://webapps.libr.canterbury.ac.nz/webdb/biblioplus.php?page=
to:
http://library.canterbury.ac.nz/webapps/public/biblioplus.php?page=

Basically any links you have that start with “http://webapps.libr.canterbury.ac.nz” will need to be updated. We can help you locate the new location of your link.

Kind Regards

Tuakiri login screen upgrade – Saturday morning

A scheduled upgrade of Tuakiri login screen will be performed on Saturday morning. At that time it won’t be possible to logging into wiki. It should be finished before library is open, at 10am.

This is the current login screen:

 Tuakiri - old login screen

This will be replaced with a UC-branded login page:

 Tuakiri - new login screen

Key differences will be:

  • Title will be updated
  • “idpsitsdev” will be replaced with “login” – so in the URL bar users will see https://login.canterbury.ac.nz/idp/Authn/UserPassword
  • The “Tuakiri-TEST VirtualHome server” will instead show the service name that the user is going to, for example “Confluence Wiki” when logging into the Wiki. Note if you notice any services with inappropriate/non-descriptive names, please let me know once this goes live and I can get them updated/clarified.
  • The “Create a new account” button will likely be hidden until Tribal/myUC goes live at the end of September
  • Forgot or change password will take users to http://password.canterbury.ac.nz (the Undergraduate password reset tool)

Jstor down at the moment

Hi all
Jstor seems to be having some problems at the moment (at their end).
Some people seem to have some access to some parts of the site but most are getting a
“Server Busy
The server is experiencing an unusually high volume of requests and is temporarily unable to process your request.
Please try again in a moment or two.”

error message.
We expect Jstor’s technical support is working on this – so our advice is to try again later today.

printing from Horizon reports

Hi all

EPS staff have reported that Horizon reports are printing out with a smaller font size than usual. We’d like to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem, so we can accurately troubleshoot. Please let us know if you’re having printing issues, and if so, which report you’re trying to print.

Cheers

Problems with Internal Phone Calls

Hi All

ICTS have advised there are currently some problems with the internal phone system, primarily affecting the Dovedale site.
In short internal phone calls (i.e from Dovedale extensions to Ilam extensions and vice versa) are not.

So – education library staff, people calling from Ilam won’t be able to get through to you on the phone, nor will you be able to get through to Ilam library extensions. Maybe use email or AskLive instead.
People will still be able to get through to Dovedale and Ilam direct dial numbers, if calling from outside the university.

Technicians have been called out to fix the problem, but there is no timeframe given in the ICTS email (thought they hope it will be resolved quickly).

LR&IS Leave Calendar (Public Folder) full

Hi all

A couple of people have reported error messages when trying to add items to the LR&IS leave calendar. This calendar has reached it’s maximum size capacity on the exchange server – in short it’s all full up. To add any new entries some older entries will need to be deleted. I will contact Coral, Alison and Peter, and arrange the deletion of older entries and advise when this has been done.

Cheers,
