ICTS are currently having problems with some servers on the network, which may affect some Library services. In particular, the self check machines are not working, as they require a connection to one of the servers that is down, to connect to Horizon.
RFID Pads on Information desks will continue to work as they connect directly to Horizon.
All branch library desks have been rung, and I will ring around again when the servers are working again.

AskLive is likely to be unavailable at the moment. The LibraryH3lp twitter page says the main US server is unavailable, and they are checking it now (posted 7 mins ago).
Keep trying, it may come back quickly.

Are not working properly. The catalogue will be shut down shortly and restarted.

Library eServices
Now fixed
We are having major problems with ezproxy at the moment, and this has broken links to our electronic resources. I’ve put up an urgent news item on the Library’s homepage.
We are working on it now.

Library eServices
Please note that 2 phone extensions in Library Support Services have changed as follows:
Tim Stedman‘s extension has changed back to 8009, the number he had before the earthquakes (from 44757).
Library eServices has been changed to 8603 (from 8009).
Web pages will be updated.

We really need to do a complete update of our library catalogue and holdings in Summon. There have been so many changes over the last year that it would be very helpful if we could have a completely new and clean reload. We are aiming to do this during the first week in October.
For that reason, it would be really helpful if as much as possible of the collection corrections could be complete by that time – eg temporary earthquake collections back to their owning library, shifts between floors complete etc etc. We realise that this is a big job and it’s asking a lot!
Please send any lists of barcodes where items need to be updated to library eservices, and they will be processed as quickly as possible.

I have requested and received the latest custom link check from SpringShare. It has been saved as K:/information_services/LibGuides/custom_linkcheck_report_2011-09-13.htm
Please could all editors of subject guides and other libguides pages check this report for broken links on their pages. Note: there are some links which do in fact work, but there are also genuinely broken links so all need to be checked.

Note: All back to normal again.
It looks as if there are problems with accessing the main US server (libraryh3lp.com) for the AskLIVE service, so widgets are not working, and we can’t get to the login or admin pages. According to their twitter account the LibaryH3lp people are investigating the problem.
If you suddenly find you can login, please add a comment to this posting so others will know.

We have had notification of a database server outage on this Friday (9th Sept) from 6pm-7pm. This will affect a number of services across campus, including Confluence which runs the wiki software. This will take down Camelot, and the EndNote wiki.
Libraries close at 6pm, so service shouldn’t be badly affected, but any staff working late should be aware!
